Perlite insulation is used in high temperature applications in the steel and foundry industries such as ladle topping, hot topping and risering, in topping compounds, in exothermic and insulating shapes, as a cushioning agent, in molding sand and in the manufacture of refractory blocks and bricks.

Perlite Application
Perlite is used for soil amendment and has a number of properties and one of the most important is that it is able to retain moisture without allowing the soil or growing medium to become wet and soggy. Used in potting mixes as well as in hydroponics, it is also useful as a soil amendment.So a product that retains moisture and improves drainage sounds like a useful addition to many growing mediums and indeed it is.
